On Sundays, I thought I’d highlight a blessing to start our week. This week’s theme is justice and these words from St. Francis seemed a good way to set the tone for our reflections.
May God bless you with discomfort,
At easy answers, half-truths
And superficial relationships
So that you may live
Deep within your heart.May God bless you with anger
At injustice, oppression,
And exploitation of people,
So that you may work for
Justice, freedom, and peace.May God bless you with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain,
Rejection, hunger, and war,
So that you may reach out your hand
To comfort them and
To turn their pain to joyAnd may God bless you
With enough foolishness
To believe that you can
Make a difference in the world,
So that you can do
What others claim cannot be done
To bring justice and kindness
To all our children and the poor.Amen

This post is Day 8 of the Write 31 Days Challenge. I’m spending the month of October writing about the Backyard Justice. You can find the entire series over at my Backyard Justice page.
St Francis was so smart! 🙂
He was indeed. 😉
I really love this. May I post it, giving you as the author? And if not, that is OK.
Of course! But the author is St Francis of Assisi. 😉
I think I am going to write this on our “inspirational quote for the week” board at work. That should keep us focused.
Isn’t so powerful? And so difficult to really remember… I’m thankful for the saints who have gone before me!
