Advent Day 3: Beyond Measure

Prayer for Syria

For all those who wander, lost.
For all those who flee.
For all those who witness
unspeakable terrors
and struggle now – this day –
to know peace, and experience safety.

Know this.

You are loved.
We are with you.
We abide with you in love.
We put prayer into action, reach out and touch your hand.
We lift you up in prayer.
We do all we can to be the hands and feet of God,
to break down barriers, borders and walls,
to give you a safe place
to hold your children
to give you back your humanity.

All that we cannot do
through relief, respite, red tape, rescue
we hand to God,
the Almighty Healer
of nations, hearts, people, scars.
The One who knows all and is all.
The One true love.
We lift you up to Him now.
We pray, unceasing,
for rest
for peace in His presence.
for compassion and love,
for all of us – collective humanity – to be the undoing
of the evil you have seen, felt, lived.

We lift you up to the heart of God.
We ask for peace, for safe passage,
new beginnings, healing of wounds.
We can’t pretend to know what you’ve been through,
the trauma you’ve endured.

we are human.
The divine spark that lives in you,
lives in us too.
The collective love that wraps the world
holds us together.

Know this.

You are loved beyond measure.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
